One of my most pleasurable experience in
working with paperclay is making a hand-pinched form and seeing
how far and thin I can push this clay. In doing so, wonderful
surface textures begin to from as the clay is stretched thiner
and thinner.
This piece is titled “Cooperation
1” because each pod has only one foot. By itself it
cannot stand, but by cooperating - three pods back to back -
they form a very stable base. I've used a thin raku glaze to
showcase its surface quality.
