The door of a bamboo bird cage was the
inspiration for this piece. In Asia, it’s common to keep
doves as pets. They become so tame that even with the door
open, they will not fly out. This sculpture shows how quickly
we can get used to the state in our lives so that even when an
opportunity presents itself, we‘d stay put rather than to
venture out and see what’s beyond that gate.
