“Earthship 3, conceptualizes how
comets brought in the primordial organic elements that gave
rise to life on Earth. It combines paperclay and high-grogged
sculpture clay to produce a sphere fragment representing the
comet's exterior. Delicate white flower-like pods, representing
precious life elements, cram the interior, just as people
crowded into third class steerage on the old ships to travel to
a new home.”
“My art makes a statement, tells a
story. It translates thoughts, questions, concerns I have into
a tangible 3-D form. My sculpture is a way to confront and
convey issues of where people come from and where they are
heading.”
