These pieces explore where and how life
came to be on Earth. One theory is that the primordial organic
elements were brought by comets crashing into the early Earth's
surface, thus seeding our world and starting the whole chain of
events leading to all life on Earth.
It's quite a literal piece, the ship-like
structure acting as a heat shield protecting the more delicate
life pods as it enters Earth's atmosphere. I fell in love with
shape and concept that I started a series of them. I've used
the natural colors of the clay as the color palette, with the
exception of iron oxide and a flashing slip. No glazes are
used.
